Dr. Maria Pinzon and Dr. Josephine Weeden are firm believers in individualized attention to every one of their patients. They are committed to diagnosing and treating every child as they would treat their own and carry this philosophy into their practice every day, giving their patients the care and attention they deserve. They are always available to speak with parents, give them updates, and answer questions about treatment progress.
We provide professional orthodontic treatment for patients of all ages. Our goal is to create beautiful smiles and properly functioning bites using state-of-the-art technology. We concentrate no only on the alignment and esthetics of the teeth and smile, but also on how the upper and lower teeth relate to each other in the bite.
Orthodontic Treatment for All Ages
Early Treatment: Interceptive treatment to guide the growth of the teeth and jaws to their optimum position. The primary goal of early orthodontic treatment is to head off developing problems that would be difficult to treat in the adolescent years.
Adolescent Treatment: Conventional treatment in the pre-teen to early teen years, when all of the permanent teeth are present.
Adult Treatment: Treatment when the jaws have stopped growing. Adults often have orthodontic concerns such as crowding, missing teeth, drifting teeth, long-term problems with the bite or esthetics. Adult teeth move just like adolescent teeth—you're never too old for braces!
Conventional Braces
Surgical-grade stainless steel brackets and wires made of a variety of
different alloys depending on the desired type of tooth movement. Colored
"o-rings" can be applied to conventional braces at each adjustment
appointment to create a different look.
Ceramic Braces
Braces that closely match tooth color—an alternative for those patients
who need conventional orthodontic treatment, but wish to camouflage their
braces.
Mouth Guards
Required by the athletic programs in all communities, mouth guards protect
the teeth from trauma during impact sports. We love to see our patients
participating in team sports and encourage them to wear a mouth guard
at all times. We make custom fitting mouth guards in multiple color choices.
Dentofacial Orthopedics
When the position or size of the jaws is out of balance, orthodontic treatment
can include modification of jaw position to guide the growth of the teeth
and jaws into more ideal positions. This type of treatment is only effective
during the growing years. Furthermore, the majority of orthopedic-type
procedures must be followed by conventional braces to achieve an ideal
result.
Surgical Treatment
When the position or size of the jaws is out of balance and growth is
complete, jaw surgery is often necessary to obtain the most stable and
esthetic result. The orthodontist works closely with the oral surgeon
to coordinate the position of the teeth with the final position of the
jaws.
Treatment for Temporomandibular Joint
Disorders (TMJ)
If instability of the bite is associated with discomfort or dysfunction
of the jaw joints, bite correction via orthodontic treatment may be beneficial.
Traditionally, patients with jaw joint symptoms have bite splints made
to simulate a correct bite, and orthodontic treatment is considered only
after the symptoms are relieved with the splint in place.
